Ethiopia—coffee's homeland. While in most of the coffee-growing world, the varieties of coffee being grown come from the same, narrow gene pool, Ethiopia produces wildly different coffee varieties, the earliest dating back many millennia.
Wote Konga is named for the Konga village, or kebele, in the Yirgacheffe district in the Southern Nations, Nationalities & Peoples (SNNP) region of Ethiopia. This region exemplifies Ethiopia’s well-deserved reputation for high quality, unique coffees, producing some of the most sought-after microlots in the world. Ethiopian coffees at their best are explosively fragrant and boast distinctive floral and fruit tones; Wote Konga balances deep, sweet fruit flavors with tones of warm spice to make an unusual but refined cup.
This single origin decaf has had the caffeine removed through the Swiss Water® Process, which uses green coffee and proprietary carbon technology to leach the caffeine out of the beans’ cellular material. The Swiss Water Process is certified organic, 100% chemical free, and certified Kosher by the Kosher Overseers Association.
