So you want a Barismo Spec Tamper?

We got some emails inquiring about our tamper and the guys at Espresso Parts are delivering a version of it. Our current version features a sand-blasted handle (for better grip) and a subtle c-flat base along with the polished brass ring. Weighing in over 2 lbs, this stainless steel tamper is a beautiful and an efficient piece of equipment.

If you have any interest, please email the Espresso Parts guys and ask for it by name. We saw the first version of it at the Bellingham jam and we are excited to get some feedback about it.

Will these be old stock EspressoParts bases or the thinner new stock ones?

it's beautiful!

Branden,

You have to0email the EspressoParts guys to see what they are planning to do w/ the base, Mine (and Jaime's) are the thicker old stock ones and we loved it.

Gabe,

Superb photo. You sure make it looked a lot sexier than mine (photo), haha

The new bases are now the old bases.. uh if that makes sense. The new batch we just got are all up told old standards again. We are still getting rid of a few of the shorter bases but if you made mention of it I'm sure you'd get hooked up.

Dave,

Thanks for the update and glad the base are back to what it used to be!

That certainly is a jewel of a barista tool. (I made a rhyme?)

If the price is right, you know I'd get one.

We'll, they're not cheap, but depending on your tamping style I can almost guarantee that it will be the nicest and most comfortable tamper you've ever used.

how did you get a c-note base? sent for custom machining?

I took the stock EP base to work and machined it there.

If I were to have a base machined to c-flat, do I start with a convex tamper and flatten the middle or a flat tamper and make the curve on the edges?

You can do it either way I suppose, but to make my life easier, I took a stock EPNW convex and machined the center flat. You also get to keep the correct (to us) thickness of the base this way.

Additionally, to be accurate, we used the american curve convex base which is less convex than the traditional european curve convex base. Fyi, Reg Barber uses a euro-curve for his version of the c-flat, but ben went for something a little more subtle. I haven't had enough time to pull shots with both side by side to decide on which I like more, but the difference with the two should be negligible as the diameter of the flat center is the approximately the same.

Just received my Barismo Spec Tamper in the mail a few minutes ago. It is absolutely beautiful and it even looks like the guys at EspressoParts were kind enough to machine the base to a slight c-flat. Feels great in the hand (I went with the 3.25 instead of 3.5 handle length) too.

I'm off to go play with this new toy!

Branden,

Very nice!! Would love to see photos of the production unit!!

Kudos to the EPNW guys of making the barismo spec tamper a reality!

Here are a few pics as requested:
